In the listener configuration for DB2 perhaps you need to drop the
specific IP or use '*' ?

Hipersockets and DB2...

We're trying to start a hipersocket LAN to use between DB2 Connect on
zLinux and DB2 on zOS within a physical box. As near as we can tell, we've
set everything up correctly, and we can ping back and forth, and telnet
from zOS to zLinux via the hipersocket IP address.

We have a DB2 listening on port 5031. We can reach this port from the
"outside world" via DB2 Connect running on a Windows box. We can reach
this port from zLinux by going outside the box and back in. We get a
"connection refused" when we try to reach this port via the hipersocket.
I've verified this using telnet zos 5031. Across the outside link, I get
connected, and then DB2 gets mad at me because I don't speak his language.
Using telnet across the hipersocket to 5031 immediately gets a connection
refused.

We've tried just about everything (except the actual solution, or I
wouldn't be writing this). What could be special about the DB2 port that
would make it unreachable via the hipersocket IP address?

I will gladly supply details and definition listings to anyone who could
shed some light on this.

TIA
