Hello List, A customer of us has a z890 host with SLES 8 and 9 Installations. We have installed a courier imap server with qmail and vpopmail on a sles8 mashine. There are more than 500 mailboxes on the server. We have big performance problems every morning when all users check their mailboxes.
the courier imap server can start 700 processes and each client can open a max of 20 connections (otherwise those stupid M$ clients get problems) The load of the system raises to over 10 and more. Around 520 processes are started. The mashine has 128 mb ram and so ist starts to swap around 80MB (we are raising the ram to 512mb today) does anyone have a clue how many users such a system can handle? or has anybody a similar configuration running?
