Why not use YaST?

...or in /etc/sysconfig/network there is a file called ifcfg...
something that contains the device number of your interface (really,
just the interface name was ALOT easier to remember). The IP Address is
in that file.

How do I change the ip address of my linux??

I tried ifconfig eth0 10.37.3.98
Then ifconfig eth0 down
And ifconfig eth0 up

Did an ifconfig after it was changed..

But could not putty to it...

Did a shutdown/reboot... Ip changed back to the old ip..

Guess I am missing something...

Thanks

Ralph
