Is all the above different when we are using win2k with active
directory..
My samba server never shows up..

I can do a start run \\zvmlinx1   and can get there...

I bet your Samba server has more than one interface? If so, you can
eliminate these by adjusting the "bind =" parameter in smb.conf so that
Samba only binds to the external interface (or the list of interfaces
you provide in the bind list).

If you're not running Windows 95/98 clients you could shut down NMBD, I
think. Samba only uses it for supporting the broadcast NetBIOS support,
and all those two messages are telling you is that it is hearing only
its own broadcasts, usually from another interface.  You probably should
also adjust the "OS level = " parm to make sure that your Samba server
is never elected as the network master browser -- while it doesn't cause
problems, the Windows guys get nervous when their stuff isn't in
charge...8-)
