Windows domain support is a whole 'nother animal from just workgroups. Samba won't show up in a AD or NT domain environment unless the Samba server is a member of the domain you're in. This gets much more complicated. You still need the WINS support, but you also need to create a "server account" for the Samba server in the appropriate domain.
The how-to document shows the process for doing so. > -----Original Message----- > From: Linux on 390 Port [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of > Noll, Ralph > Sent: Monday, April 25, 2005 2:04 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: Samba 3.0 with Win/2000 shares > > > Is all the above different when we are using win2k with active > directory.. > My samba server never shows up.. > > I can do a start run \\zvmlinx1 and can get there... > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
