I believe Debian woody and sarge are stable for Itanium, and the usual
RH/SuSE distributions are also stable on Itanium. Any of the above
should be no problem.

You should have no trouble getting spamd and virusd to run on it (and
you can then use the spamd/virusd clients on the 390 Linuxen to use the
IA64 MIPS to do the job).
