The entire installer is written in bash.  It is also somewhat modularized.
Redirecting the output will make it impossible to see and respond to the
installer.  Not redirecting it will also make it impossible to see and
respond to the installer because of the debugging output.  Either way, not a
good way to go.

Your disk mount state check is a good thought.

As mentioned, the -x shell flag was a starting point for debugging the
script failure. If the setup script output can be redirected (is this
bash?) it might make debugging less painful.

Try the shell "-x" flag to expand the script, which may help determine why
