Well, let's face it. Once some enterprising souls figure out how to run arbitrary third-party software on the NEXT generation of consoles, we're going to be seeing some real computational power. They're all multi-core Cell Processor systems with ATI video.
Given that there are Linux ports to the PS2, the GameCube, and the xBox, it should not be hard--once people figure out how to execute arbitrary code on the new systems--to get Linux on it, and from there, Hercules is pretty trivial.
In fact, when I again have copious free time, I may update my GameCube Linux distro, and build Hercules on it. It's a small box-- only 24 MB RAM--but 16MB is plenty to run VM/370 or MVS 3.8.
