You are looking at a minimum of 8 GB.  We ended up creating an LVM just for
this purpose.

Thanks. This is the method we've been trying to use. But we keep running
out
of space (unpack's of rpm files).
We may try ext3 rather than reiser. I don't know if it will matter.
