Hey gang. Seeing some error messages about my file system that I'm
concerned about.

Threading email clients (and this seems to be most) will roll this up
under the previous and make it hard to find. So will list archivers.
Is it possible to force an FSCK on all file systems defined to a Linux
guest at IPL? I am seeing some errors in /opt/warn that are concerning me
on a couple of file systems though the systems appear to be running at the
moment. Typically it's been doing it after x many mounts or after x many
days without being checked.
Those are warnings, not errors. When RH introduced ext3 it turned them
off (with tune2fs). Debian has them on. I'm slightly confused, but tend
to think RH knows what it's doing.
Also, is it possible to run an integrity check of a file system while it is
mounted with some other utility? FSCK of course warns about possibly
frelling your filesystem to the center of the earth if you use it on a
mounted file system. Just wondering what FS checker might be available
that I don't have to schedule downtime with customers in order to use it
I surmise, but have not tested it, that one can fsck ext{2,3}
filesystems when they're mounted ro _provided_ that you do it on he
_one_ system where it's mounted. We discussed a few days ago that ro on
all-but-one is evil.
I'm sure that e2fsck -n is fine: it tests without updating anything, and
if it says it needs repair, then I guess you need to do it. In that
case, try Christian's advice.
Any ideas/thoughts will be greatly appreciated.
