I see. z/VSE.

Leads me to another question. For those VSE shops that run under VM or
have multiple VSEs running, how many shops are entirely z/VSE?

Or in a different tangent, how many shops CAN be FCP only (with no
FICON or ESCON attached storage)?

True, large shops may have multiple dasd subsystems so some can be CKD
and some can be scsi dasd.

Where I've been comming from, is that there is few shops (percentage
wise) that can meet an entirely FCP attached dasd requirement. Am I
wrong about that?

We just went to a DS6800 with Ficon2 attachments. I thought we would
be really up there as far as dasd technology goes. You're going to rain
on my parade if the word comes back that without FCP attached dasd, we
are just backwater hillbillies<G>.

Tom,

According to:

http://www-03.ibm.com/servers/eserver/zseries/connectivity/fcp.html

You can use FCP with z/VM, z/VSE, and Linux on zSeries.

More z/VSE
