Hi Adam, vmcp has similar capabilities as the hcp component of cpint, but it does not provide the monitor and accounting features of cpint cpmon and cpact). As far as I can tell both tools should behave similiar from a user perspective,if you use standard parameters. They differ in terms of response buffer handling(vmcp tells you if the buffer was too small by returning an error code instead of increasing the buffer and retry) vmcp and cpint can be both installed and active on the same Linux, there should be no conflict. The most important difference is probably the fact that vmcp is in the mainline kernel (since 2.6.13), which means it will be part of distributions with this kernel or newer. -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Best Regards / Un cordial saludo Christian Bornträger Linux Software Engineer zSeries Linux & Virtualization IBM Deutschland Entwicklung GmbH email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tel +49 7031 16 1975 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
