I'm in a different boat, same lake <G>. I didn't think about using my XP pc to be a patch server. I would rather have a zLinux machine be the patch server. Not only for the greater communications speed to other zLinux images, but it wouldn't get infected with viruses and/or the ever present "wipe your hard drive and reimage it".
But a XP server might be a good short term solution until my request to make one of our zLinux servers "natted or natable". They are telling me to set up a patch server and not go thru yast online update. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to accomplish this ?
