Well, the following is somewhat tongue-in-cheek. If the network people allow you to create the XP system, then they are obviously going to give you an IP address for it which can be NAT'ed to the outside world. Depending on your network configuration, it might be possible to "steal" this IP address for use by a second ethernet interface on your zLinux box. Remember that a single OSA can have multiple IP addresses assigned to it.
