NFS V4 is only available in 2.6 kernels.  Slackware and Slack/390 consider
2.6 to be "experimental" since it has only recently become stable enough to
make it the default.  I suspect, though I don't know, that the next release
from Pat will have 2.6 as the default.

If at all possible, consider NFS version 4 over version 3. Current Linux
distributions on Z ( RHEL 4, SLES 9, I'm sure Mark P. will speak WRT Slack
and David can fill us in on Deban ) support the newer version that is
supposed to be much better for exactly this kind of use.
