NFS V4 is only available in 2.6 kernels. Slackware and Slack/390 consider 2.6 to be "experimental" since it has only recently become stable enough to make it the default. I suspect, though I don't know, that the next release from Pat will have 2.6 as the default.

Current Linux distributions on Z ( RHEL 4, SLES 9, I'm sure Mark P. will speak WRT Slack and David can fill us in on Deban ) support the newer version that is supposed to be much better for exactly this kind of use. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
