The next one will become /dev/dasdaa, but you will need to create the device nodes for it. This information is in the device drivers manual that is available on the developerworks site. If you check the archive you may find a script that does that for you (or it may even be in the book).

Hello all, I've been hunting around for this answer but as yet I haven't found it so I'll pitch it here. I'm still building our zLinux system on Suse in an LPAR (Not VM). As I use YaST to activate additional DASD that new dasd will be assigned the next logical device node. What happens when I attempt to add something after /dev/dasdz? I've found http://linuxvm.org/archives/200210.html Which indicate a maximum18,278 dasd devices that Linux/390 can recognize based on the free major numbers. My question is will I need to do something to use or get those free numbers, or will the next dasd volume that I activate after dev/dasdz become dev/dasdaa?
