I'm confused (as usual) by Linux's perception of things.

In a 192MB virtual machine, /proc/meminfo shows 196112384 as the total memory.  
That isn't (quite) 192MB by any formula I've come up with.
In a 256MB virtual machine, /proc/meminfo shows 259629056 as the total memory.  
That also isn't (quite) 256MB.

I actually care about getting this right, because I'm trying to 
programmatically analyze a Linux guest.

Does anyone understand the formula?
