I think on the IPL line for the guest you can use LOADPARM or something like that to pass the parameter to the kernel. Also in zipl.conf you can have alternate configurations from which they can choose one that brings up the system at alternate runlevel.

Hi. We'd like to be able to IPL our linux guests at system maintenance time but tell them to not start WebSphere until we tell them to. What is the best way to pass a parameter to the guest, read the parameter from within the guest and then act on it? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
