I've got a New requirement for our DR test, and that is to verify RACFLDAP can
be accessed on z/OS from linux before websphere starts.

I started with this ldapsearch that worked on z/OS USS land:

ldapsearch -h hawk -p 389 -s base -b "" "objectclass =*" subschemasubentry

This returns: subschemasubentry=CN=SCHEMA,ou=racf,o=co.hennepin.mn,c=us

as expected.

When I try that same command on my linux box:

abinodji:~ # ldapsearch -h hawk -p 389 -s base -b "" "objectclass =*"
subschemasubentry
SASL/EXTERNAL authentication started
ldap_sasl_interactive_bind_s: Unknown authentication method (-6)
additional info: SASL(-4): no mechanism available:
abinodji:~ #

What i've been able to find on the net has been.... less than clear. Man page
talks about -h being deprecated in favor of -H and using an ldap URI but
I have no idea how to build a URI.

Anyone have any idea why the ldapsearch from uss works on uss and not on
z/Linux?

I like these because they prompt me to try things out. I've recently
inherited the school's Windows network in addition to the Linux which I
already had and some macs, so I need to learn these things.

Without thought, I suggest this:
http://www.google.com/search?q=ldapsearch+examples&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

Now, I'm off to try some of these against our domain controller:-)
