The Sine Nomine deal is a DDR backup on 3480 (or other) tape of the dasd on which they installed Debian. To use it you need VM. You restore the tapes using DDR and you have a Linux guest ready to be configured. You may wish to use APT to apply any maintenance that became available for Debian after they built the tapes. Real neat and quick way to try out Debian/390 if you have VM.
We also have a Debian Woody set of CDs that installs an installation server from which you can install as many instances as you want without needing a WAN. I have sorta been working on the same thing for Sarge (but on DVD) but due to lack of demand and time have not finished the installer. I'd really recommend just doing a network install of Sarge (if you want "stable") or Etch (if you want to play with the bleeding edge). Etch Beta 2 didn't get the network quite right for virtual QDIO but I can help you with that.
