Mario, I have been experimenting with the cio_ignore parameter on a zLinux guest (I can't test with the native LPAR). If I code cio_ignore=all,0.0.0200-0.0.0209, my VM console isn't sensed. I can only connect via putty. Can I add the console device name, ttyS0? What happens on the native LPAR? Would the HMC console be sensed? Betsie

(LPAR install) When Linux on zSeries boots it senses and analyses all available devices. There is an parameter 'cio_ignore' which let you specify a list of devices that are to be ignored. If you are working in an LPAR which sees lots of devices this parameter helps you to reduce sysfs entries and reduce memory allocation in the kernel.
