Hehe, is this cynicism? :) Joke aside, what I find the most problematic
about such auto-responses is that it's little bit promiscuous to begin
with to have them turned on for lists.

After all, of the 1462 subscribers, how many do actually send content
that's relevant for YOU (assuming you're the one with the auto-reply),
and would you ordinarily reply to that? Moreover, how important is it
that the 1462 people know you're out? Do they even want to know? Last,
but not least, the hidden agenda - would you feel comfortable putting a
big sign in front of your house saying "Dear Mr. Burglar. I'm on
vacation, so please help yourself."?
