uname -a reports 2.6.11-21.11-default

NEC DVD_RW ND-3540A, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive

I must revise. I have burned about 10 DVDs and quite a few CDs on this
system with no problems.

These fail for me:
2.6.13-15.7-default
        1,0,0 100) 'Slimtype' 'DVDRW SOSW-833S ' 'VRS2' Removable CD-ROM

[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ uname -r
2.6.10-1.760_dl3 (rebuilt FC3 with NTFS enabled)
        1,1,0 101) 'HL-DT-ST' 'DVDRAM GSA-4120B' 'A101' Removable CD-ROM

[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ uname -r
2.6.12-1.1376_FC3
        1,1,0 101) 'HL-DT-ST' 'DVDRAM GSA-4040B' 'A300' Removable CD-ROM

They all _seem_ to work, but there are dud files on the disk. For
example, I build a SUSE DVD from the CD images using the SUSE script
provided for the purpose, and it has lots of good files and I think it
boots. However, some files are currupt.

I burned a PPC FC4 or 5 image on Bilby and inserted in in my powerbook
which couldn't read it, boot from it, or spit it out under OS X control
- I had to google to discover how to eject it.

_I_ have used both cdrecord and growisofs with equally dismal results.

I know I'm labouring the point, but I do want a working combination. I
suppose I _should_ build growisofs from source and take it up with the
author so as to get an informed opinion.
