The DB2 manual is spectacularly uninformative on this:

SQL2025N
An I/O error code occurred on media dir/devices .
Explanation:

An I/O error occurred while accessing a file on the specified media.

The utility stops processing.
User Response:

Record the error return code. Determine whether the I/O error can be
corrected.

I would look at your file server to see if any errors are logged there,
and on your system (perhaps dmesg or /var/log/messages).

Subject: DB2 Backup into Samba Filesystem

Hi group,

I am currently trying to backup a db into a smbfs via the command:

db2 backup db <mydb> to /mnt/smb_disk compress

but I have the following error:

SQL2025N An I/O error "4" occurred on media
"/mnt/smb_disk/LNXE89.0.db2inst1.NODE0000.CATN0000.20060516182813.0".

I have searched for I/O error "4" over the internet but I haven't found
any description of it so I remain without knowing what is it about and,
thus, what to do to correct it.

Any help will be welcome.
