I'm trying to connect to lash up some zFCP-attached tape drives to SuSE SLES9 servers running under z/VM 5.2. I'm finally to the point where I vary the paths online. For example, gentoo52:/ # echo 1 > /sys/bus/ccw/drivers/zfcp/0.0.4d30/online scsi16 : zfcp Aug 4 13:40:08 gentoo52 kernel: scsi16 : zfcp zfcp: The adapter 0.0.4d30 reported the following characteristics: WWNN 0x5005076400c5e76c, WWPN 0x5005076401607393, S_ID 0x00642d13, adapter version 0x3, LIC version 0x605, FC link speed 1 Gb/s zfcp: Switched fabric fibrechannel network detected at adapter 0.0.4d30. Aug 4 13:40:08 gentoo52 kernel: zfcp: The adapter 0.0.4d30 reported the following characteristics: Aug 4 13:40:08 gentoo52 kernel: WWNN 0x5005076400c5e76c, WWPN 0x5005076401607393, S_ID 0x00642d13, Aug 4 13:40:08 gentoo52 kernel: adapter version 0x3, LIC version 0x605, FC link speed 1 Gb/s Aug 4 13:40:08 gentoo52 kernel: zfcp: Switched fabric fibrechannel network detected at adapter 0.0.4d30.
A couple questions: 1) How can I get these to come online by themselves at boot time? 2) Once the paths are online, how do the tape devices get created? (/dev/???) I have /etc/zfcp.conf configured. The entry for the 4d30 path looks like: 0x4d30 0x01:0x500104f0006fd1af 0x00:0x0000000000000000 These devices will eventually be used by TSM, so that adds another wrinkle.
