Yeah, but you have an HD password, right?  And you require authentication
to your OS?

I'm not aware that any of my computers has the ability to employ an HD
password, and I know how easy it is to bypass passwords on Windows
XP/2003 (I've done so), OS X and Linux.

In fact, I believe the security measures typically provided for Linux
(on Intel & clones) to be worthless, once one has physical access. Short
of encrypted filesystems, that is.

Physical access to zSeries machines is no doubt more difficult, but if
I'm to believe Clancy et al, it's by no means impossible if the need's
there.
