When you DO have performance problems, with ECKD you can identify the problem, as there is lots of instrumentation. WIth FCP support, the instrumentation is very limited. Thus performance advantages are dependent on everything working perfectly which doesn't happen in my world. Performance advantages exist when performance problems can be identified and fixed - ECKD.
