The limit is 256 PVs, not partitions, per se.  There is also a limit of
256 LVs in a single VG.

I seem to recall a maximum limit of either 256 partitions or disks.
Dasdbm1 is #65, so maybe dasdbl1 is as high as you can go. If they
imply/presume 4 partitions per disk, that would be 256.
