If you are going to be examining your DASD setup, check to see if you have your 
file systes striped.  I did a few tests here and saw performance increase about 
10% when I striped the file systems.  You have to weigh this against the fact 
that you can not dynamically extend a striped file system, though; you have to 
back it up, delete it, recreate it, and restore.

Alan Altmark pointed us a good site with lot of tuning tips for zLinux. We 
discovered that our DASD was poorly configured, because we didn't split our 
addresses among more than one LCUs on the Sharks. Having addresses 2000-2017 
configured and used for DB2 is the worst setup we could have conceived. We 
expect to gain better I/O once the DASD will be conveniently setup.
