Sue,

Only one guest can use a given drive on a given path (I think you can get
around this if you're using NPIV on a z9). For example, I share six drives
between two TSM servers, using CHPIDs D0 and D1 (alternating for load
balancing purposes).

I have 3 fcp tape devices defined to a Suse 9 and a Suse 10 system
running under VM. As far as I can tell, it looks like whichever system
is booted first grabs the tapes, and the system booted second writes a
message saying the tapes are already in use in lpar4. Lpar 4 is the VM
lpar. If I issue a lsscsi command to both systems, they will both
display info about the fcp dasd (also shared), but only one system will
display info about the tapes. Is there any way to have the tapes mounted
on both systems at the same time? If yes, what do I need to do? I don't
mean in use at the same time, just mounted. I don't have a lot of users
logged on to either system at any given time, and even then they're
likely to be logged on to only one of the systems at a time, while the
other systems sit idle until someone needs to test something. If it
makes any difference the tapes in question are 2 STK drives and 1 IBM
3592 drive, with the Total Storage driver installed.

Thanks

Sue
