well the Redbook for z9 Connectivity Handbook shows a z/VM system with
both zLinux and z/OS when referring to Network Layer 2. It even mentions
that z/OS 1.6+PTF is required.
See Manual SG24-5444-06 Section 8.2.11 on Pages 127-128.

Had problems access the z/OS Library (bad URLs) this morning. Will try
again soon.
