Jay: Yes your concerns with regards to Debian are indeed well founded. Most of them are mine as well. They want people to install everything. However on Slackware (Intel) they do not. They want people, myself, Mark, anyone, to install only what's needed. However since I do a heck of a lot of development work, I typically stuff everything in.
