Strange hours (or location) you are keeping ;-) unionfs is in the mm tree, but thats kind of new and a backport is unlikely with the changes involved. (SLES10 still 2.6.16) But with so many Live CD distro's using unionfs, I am amazed how it still remains so isolated? It really makes a nice tool for certain aspects of Cloning and general system maintenance.
