This reminds me: I had to set PuTTY so its preferred SSH protocol version is 2 before it would work with OpenSUSE 10 on Intel. Maybe that is what is wrong.

Also, were you aware of the fact that PuTTY's SSH key is in a different format from the key generated by ssh-keygen?
