After a minimal install, we found some more RPMs that seem to be safe to remove: # rpm -e eject fvwm2 hfsutils initviocons ntfsprogs pmtools providers unclutter usbutils wol xfsprogs zsh (yes, you can remove the unclutter RPM to unclutter your RPMs :))
Then you would have to add any RPMs that Oracle co-reqs. For RHEL4 I had written down libaio-devel, sysstat, gcc and gcc-c++, so that is just a starting point. The new redbook "Experiences with Oracle 10gR2 Solutions on Linux for IBM System z", SG24-7191 is helpful here. Hope this helps.
