Tom,
Does anyone have a list of the absolute minimum packages ...
In the SLES9 Virtualization Cookbook we tried to get to the smallest
package set of around 700MB. After a minimal install, we found some more
RPMs that seem to be safe to remove:
# rpm -e eject fvwm2 hfsutils initviocons ntfsprogs pmtools providers
unclutter usbutils wol xfsprogs zsh
Some of those just plain should not be installed. I don't expect many
Zed users will be fiddling with (apple's) HFS or (Microsoft's) NTFS, and
I'd not expect WOL on a Zed (but then, it might have a use!), or USB
devices.
If that junk is getting installed, you should bug your vendor about it.
(yes, you can remove the unclutter RPM to unclutter your RPMs :))
:-)
