I think just about every experienced mainframe technician in the world knows this. Harassing them because they have to deal with non-technicians that _don't_ understand it doesn't make this a very friendly place to come for help. (Not picking on you specifically, a number of people jumped on that bandwagon.) It's also difficult to compare workloads on two different generations of hardware, when you only have one of those generations at hand. Not everyone has the time, budget, management patience, or whatever to do what is needed to get around that.
