Peter,

The question really boils down to "what are you trying to do?"  In a VSWITCH 
world, your Linux guests would normally _not_ be aware that they are on a VLAN, 
any more than they are in the discrete server environment.  That's all hidden 
from them.  The only objects that should be aware of VLANs are things like 
switches, which may or may not include your VSWITCH.

If you have a need for your Linux guests to be on different VLANs from each 
other, then you should define your VSWITCH as being VLAN aware.  If you don't 
have that need, then don't worry about any of it.  Plug the VSWITCH into an 
access port on the physical switch, and you're done.
