Configuring a miniroot and boot system in a NSS, defining a boot and disk server in another virtual machine, and a lot of patience. You can do it with Linux now (I have a few "diskless" clients that run this way); z/VM and other systems would be harder. > Also, I wonder if a "Linux for System z" liveDVD would be > possible.
