Hi Ron, The "dev_jumptable[0] [1] == NULL" implies that one of your cio devices was not recognized during initialization. Setting cio_msg=y on your kernel parameter line should indicate which cio device is having problems and, to an certain extent, what those problems are.
This may be a hardware problem but cio device initialization changed
significantly with the latest SLES10 kernel, so my bet would bethe kernel.
I;ve only seen this message at one other site - one of my customers who is
also running native under an LPAR, same kernel as yourself. The problem
is being actively worked. . If your site security policies allow, I would
be interested in the results you get if you do decide to set cio_msg on.
Another data set is always useful; but no big deal if that is not possible.
If you don't have a support contract with IBM, you should not send me
anything you would not post to a public mailing list.
I don't know if you have a support contract with IBM, Novell, or are
working on your own. If the latter, you might want to consider either
recompiling the kernel with the latest developerworks patches --
specifically linux-2.6.16-s390-20-03-october2005.diff - or backing off to
an earlier kernel until we have the problem resolved. This is a
hypothesis on my part -- we have not quite proven root cause yet.

Linux on 390 Port
Hello everyone,
I have googled this mailing list for a good while and found a lot of
useful information.
I have a problem that I have not been able to find a solution for, so I
have joined
the list. It always seemed to be a good place to hang out, I just never
got around to
it.
We have a central Linux for zSeries NFS server running in an LPAR.
(Doing it this
way lets NFS stay up even when we put on VM maintenance.) It is
currently running
under SLES9. Two changes need to be made to this server. First it's
disk drives
are going off lease, so the data needed to be moved. Second, it is
running under
SLES9 and I would like it to run under SLES10 SP1.
I built the replacement SLES10 system under zVM and practiced my data move
procedures. It all worked. Over the weekend, I took down all of necessary
systems and unmounted the NFS mounts and brought the SLES9 LPAR down.
I then deactivated and activated the LPAR. I changed the IPL address to
point
to the new storage subsystem and IPLed the SLES10SP1 system. The first
time, the
IPL got down to where it was activating the disk drives. It was on
drive 15 of 30
drives when I got the kernel bug. My boss wanted to do it again and
watch it
closer this time. This time, it down to where it was activating swap
devices in /etc/fstab.
Since this HMC is Linux based and he did not know how to do a screen
print, he
whipped out his digital camera and took a picture of the screen. I have
the screen
print now. I can key the whole screen in if necessary, but for now here
are what
might be interesting.
