AFAIK SAP does not support *any* database on Linux for System z. The database has to reside somewhere else. The option IBM pushes is for DB2/390 on z/OS, which has a major complexity disadvantage. I know, we are running it ;-)
AFAIK WRT SAP: IBM supports DB2 on AIX, i5/OS, and Windows. The issue is not technical, I think it is more the amount of ongoing development, testing and certification required to declare a DB on Linux for System z "supported". Most "z" customers already have, and would prefer to use, DB2 on z/OS so logically the focus of "supporting" has historically been there. I am sure that if sufficient demand for alternative DB support were shown, that support would follow, its a simple matter of their being a good business case. mark ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
