You indicate free FTP server, does that mean you're using Windows? There's been problems with Windows FTP servers.
Do you have any access to a Linux on Intel or other Unix platform to store the disk images? On the other hand, there is a SLES10 starter system available from Novell that installs directly on z/VM that is itself a Linux virtual machine that can be used as an install server. It can be downloaded free of charge from Novell (as long as you are licensed or trialing SLES). Michael Prahin wrote:
