I downloaded the source tarball and it built on SLES 10 SP2 and
Debian/390 without errors. As the man page says, reading the docs is a
prereq to using it, so I don't know if it runs correctly, but I don't
see any reason why it wouldn't work if you can figure out how to set it
up in the first place. 

Seems kind of overkill, if there is a way to put the files into a
cluster file system like OpenAFS, Lustre or OpenGFS, though.
