The new z10 BC is stated at doing about 50% more workload at half the price.
On the z890, the list price for an IFL was $125K. I seem to recall that the list price for an IFL on the z9 BC was somewhere around $96K (anyone know?) So, would that make the list price for an IFL on a z10 BC under $50K? Just eyeing the performance charts, it looks like a z10 BC IFL is about 3 times the performance of the z890 IFL. Are there any comparison numbers on this? BTW, I do know that doing a MES upgrade from the z890 to the z10 BC, you don't have to rebuy your IFL(s) while you still get the larger performance boost (free MIPS....almost as good as free beer....and the MIPS last longer <G>). Just wondering about the price for a second IFL.
