Basically, to:
- Save millions of dollars in software licensing costs
- Improve application availability
- Actually be able to finish a disaster recovery test
- Cut down on energy costs for power and cooling
- Reduce the number of physical footprints that needed managing
- Reduce the amount of ancillary network hardware to support the workload
