The masses don't always get it right. A warning story to go with that
one. Locally a planned path ran along a ridge of ground. Everyone took
the shortcut so the council gave in and moved the path.

Now the people who originally built it were smart people. The people who
took the shortcut were optimising for their usual case only. Every time
there was heavy rain the new path became a canal.

Lesson: Even if you believe the people wearing the trails are behaving
rationally the sum of individual optimum choices is not usually the right
answer.

And boy oh boy is that so often true for security...
