Here's a cool trick I learned during my testing of SLES11... Specify both UseVNC _and_ UseSSH (with passwords for both) in your parm file. Then after the install starts via VNC, SSH in to the system being built, and cd to /var/log/YaST2/. When you get your error, take a look at the contents of y2log. Somewhere near the bottom may be a clue as to what is going wrong.
