Our storage people do not understand what we need I think it is more a problem of us not expressing ourselves correctly We are using a Cisco 9513 (SAN fabric switch) The storage has been configured and zoned - They can see our FCP port from the SAN It has been attached to our zlinux guest (Dedicate in directory)
We can vary it online Then we have to add the WWPN to to device We are not sure what WWPN to use On the switch or on the SAN itself And how do we get to the WWPN to display (In other words where do we find it) It seems there are different WWPN all over the place Thank you Jan de Wet Deployment (Business Connexion), Services Building, Midrand, South Africa Cell: +27 (0)82 902 1996 Office: +27 (0)11 990 1695 Fax: +27 (0)86 572 5720 e-mail: [email protected] Jesus Christ is my Lord -----Original Message----- From: Linux on 390 Port [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Harder, Pieter Sent: 06 May 2009 12:01 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: What WWPN do we use Hi Jan, >How and where do we get that WWPN >Our storage guys do not understand our question Storage guys that do not know what wwpn's are? Get new storage guys ;-)) Seriously, to start with basics: - is your switch a Fibre channel switch and not a Ficon-only one? - do they have fibre ports on the Symmetrix set to FC protocol? (If they don't know about wwpn's there is a fair chance they didn't) - do you have Ficon port set to type FCP on your zSeries?
