I've just recently set up this scenario - but I hadn't heard about the supposed lack of ziip elegibility. Will have to go collar my SE and ask "politely".
The current setup( connect v9.5 ) is faster than the old version( connect v8.2 ) which was on AIX, but I've not looked at the SMF data for cost. We do have an issue with a single application using a type-4 jdbc connection that can't talk via the new connect - but I think that is a java-specific error and would be a problem on any platform - not just the z. We are thinking of setting up a DB2 Connect Linux on a Z server with Hypersocket connection to out DB2 database which is on one of our zOS lpars. Does anyone know if the performance is going to be compatible to the DB2 Connect running on a solaris server where the connection is Ziip eligible. I have been told that if the DB2 connect runs through Hypersockets it is no longer Ziip elegible. Forgive me if I seen to not be making sense. ============================================= Jim Olson Dominion Resource Services, Inc Senior Software Engineer OSS - Operating System Support Phone: (804) 771-3456, Tie Line: 8-736-3456 Email: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE: This electronic message contains information which may be legally confidential and or privileged and does not in any case represent a firm ENERGY COMMODITY bid or offer relating thereto which binds the sender without an additional express written confirmation to that effect.
