Our DBA has just installed the Oracle Enterprise Manager 10.2.0.5 on a
test server (SLES9 SP3) on our z/VM 5.3 machine (z890 IFL). This morning
I noticed that from midnight to 11:00 that test server used about 6
times the CPU seconds as an idle production server. PerfTK shows that
SVM using about 3.5% over an hour interval while idle Oracle SVMs use
less than 1% CPU. OEM reports that the agent in the server uses at most
1.5% CPU. It does cause the database to perform other performance
analysis tasks.

Is it reasonable for a Management agent to use 1.5% (or more) of the
system CPU in each server?

Has anyone in the VM/Linux community validated/invalidated the CPU
utilization reports from this product?
